Gators Add New Recruits

The Florida Gator Football team has been on a role in the last few weeks adding a cornerback, linebacker, and kicker to its 2012 class. All three recruits are quality recruits and highly ranked by most recruiting web sites. These recruits are added to a class that is already viewed in the top five of the 2012 class.

Over the pass few weeks the Gators picked up Brian Poole a cornerback from Bradenton, Florida Southeast, he is a four star athelete that the Gators need because of the lack of depth at cornerback, especially with Moses Jenkins graduating and Janoris Jenkins all ready dismissed from the team. Lorenzo Phillips is an outside linebacker from Louisiana Patterson that can fly to the ball. He is a four star player that can contribute in a big way once he arrives. The latest player the Gators picked up was kicker Austin Hardin from Atlanta Georgia who once kicked a field goal 59 yards for the game winner at one his high school games. This kid is very accurate and could very well be a great weapon for the Gators.

Really NCAA, Over a Bake Sale!!

Sharrif Floyd a defensive lineman from the University of Florida participated in a hearing tuesday regarding his eligibility. The hearing was conducted by the NCAA where they question his eligibility because of a high school bake sale that was to help him on a trip to the Army All American Bowl. The University of Florida issued a statement saying "this has nothing to do with agents, boosters, or his recruitment to Florida." What this does have something to do with, is that a generous amount of people wanting to help him with travel expenses, because he didn't have the funds to go.

You have Universities going through the scandals of the summer such as Miami, Auburn, Oregon, and LSU in regards to money that might have been given to a player or an agent representing a player. In this instance you have a community working together to send a person somewhere who doesn't have the means or the funds to go for himself. I see a major problem with him missing games because of this situation.

I hope the NCAA reinstates Sharrif because in this case he hasn't done any thing wrong. We are talking about a person who lived in a basement with his grandparents and to my understanding is a good kid. This kid grew up in a drug infested area where he could of done wrong with his life and instead chose to do something right with his life and now has to sit out games because of a bake sale that was meant to help him in every way possible.

NCAA you need to fix this problem!!!

Gators get drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft

Mike Pouncey finally made it to the NFL after returning to college to hone his skills for a better draft spot. It seems to be a smart move because he got drafted 15 overall to the Miami Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins say that they will use him at center. Marcus Gilbert got drafted in the 2nd round to the Steelers and is slated to get a good look with the first team. Amad Black was picked in the 5th round by the Bucs and if it wasn't for his size, speed, and height he would of went earlier than that.

Coach Muschamp means business

Janoris against Cincinnati
Coach Muschamp ushers in "the Florida way!" He has kicked starting cornerback Janoris Jenkins off the Football team for his 2nd run-in with the law in the last two months.

The reason why Janoris got kicked off the team was because a Gainseville police officer approached his vehicle and spotted a cigar filled with pot in it. Janoris was then arrested and taken to the Gainseville police station.

The Gators must move on from this incident and focus on the players who want to do it "the Florida way" and that is focusing on the task at hand, getting their degree, playing football, and being a model citizen.

Muschamp Ready to Take State of Florida by Storm

by Scott Carter, Senior Writer GatorZone.com.

The private plane was high in the dark sky shortly after taking off from Lakeland’s Linder Regional Airport on Wednesday night.

First-year Florida football coach Will Muschamp grabbed a bottle of water and a multi-grain bar to munch on during the 35-minute flight back to Gainesville. Muschamp stretched his legs out, looked at the plane’s other two passengers, and provided a quick analysis of his first Gator Gathering.

“I thought it went well,’’ he said matter-of-factly. “It was a good crowd.’’

Since replacing Urban Meyer in mid-December, Muschamp has crossed many “firsts’’ off the list in his first time as a head coach.

He hired his first coaching staff. He signed his first recruiting class. He made his first public appearance in The Swamp earlier this month in the Orange and Blue Debut.
